The Mission statementThe Marikal Master plan is primarily based on intense ground water conservation and rain water harvesting systems at domestic, rural and regional level, to promote sustainable growth based on low external input based coordinated farming and low energy biogenic industries to create a micro- economy, with low impact development in surrounding areas having an appropriate mix of land uses, leveraging the qualities of landform, without resulting in unorganized growth patterns. The master plan shall be based on ten core considerations. These are the broad guidelines pertaining to all aspects improving human living in the village: - Water usage : Water being fundamental to human existence, all forms of water shall be conserved, managed and protected from misuse.
- Flexibility : There shall be flexibility in the land use patterns, to provide for a coherent community living.
- Landform & Ecology : Green belt around the village shall be defined, with the land form in mind and only appropriate activities shall be proposed there in.
- Opportunities : It shall be an opportunity village, with plenty of scope for individual growth & social living for the locals and participatory enjoyment for the visitors.
- Development : It shall have phased infrastructure development, improving several aspects of life, including health, education, training, transportation, farming etc.
- Road Network : Excepting the ring road, all other streets shall be of medium width to retain the vernacular quality or the rural fabric.
- Building Technology : All the new buildings shall make use of sustainable technologies and local labour force.
- Enforcement : There shall be strict enforcement to ensure that development or usage of resources is not haphazard.
